Breaking Up With A Friend
Lyrics
i once had this old friend we act like we're both dead it's scary how angry just one guy can make me betrayal, a missed call a fist through the drywall i thought that i knew you the truth is, i used to and sometimes i miss them i miss who they were then the goodwill is broken the goodbyes unspoken i hate you, your mom, too (*) i've moved on, we're so through the bullshit, the weakness you're empty and spineless our friend said you missed me but i know she's lying she just wants her friends back we all know we're past that betrayal, a missed call a fist through the drywall i thought that i knew you the truth is, i used to ----------------------------------------------- (*) this song is not about you or your mom
Song Notes
what is the angriest you've ever felt? this song is funny because it is SO SHORT (less than two minutes) but it doesn't feel short! because only two sections of the song repeat which makes it _a lot_ for someone on the drums to learn fun fact: my friend from literally 4th grade does the bass on the album if anything sounds cool on the bass that's because of him the album was recorded in Austin, TX except the bass... that was recorded at his home in Gainesville, FL! isn't that wild? we're living in the future
Recording Notes
oh my god this took so many tries to get right there are three different versions of this song where i am trying to get the guitars right and trying to get the vocals right eventually... the "Ripped Speaker" was the answer to my guitar prayers and splitting the guitar chords into separate tracks i learned a lot about recording this album, mostly how hard and time-consuming it is. this song easly could have sucked if i didn't keep trying never give up!!
